What Actually is Dedicated Hosting?
When we talk about hosting web servers, there are three major varieties - shared web hosting servers, VPS (private virtual web servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web hosting servers accommodate plenty of customers and so the resources per web hosting account are limited, VPS packages give you more configuration liberty, but also influence other private virtual web hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized imprudently, and dedicated servers give you the independence to perform everything you want without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated server?
Dedicated servers are generally much more expensive than shared hosting servers or private virtual web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The explanation is very simple. If your company has a heavy resource-swallowing web site, or just has very explicit server setup requirements, the most suitable option is a dedicated server. For someone who is willing to invest in security and reliability, the higher price is of no concern. You obtain root privileges and can utilize 100% of the hosting server's resources without anyone else availing of these resources and interfering with your online portals.
Hardware architectures
The majority of hosting companies, incl. us at NTYT PERU S.A.C, provide several different hardware configurations you can select from depending on your demands. The hardware architectures include different types of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and hard disk drive sizes and different traffic allowances. You can select a hosting Control Panel, which is useful software if you want to use the dedicated server for hosting purposes only and prefer not to use an SSH terminal for all the changes you will be making. We offer three sorts of Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The web hosting CP of your preference
If you are a confident Linux user (our servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated server through a Secure Shell tunnel only. That, though, could be inconvenient, particularly if you wish to grant full server root access to someone else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. That is why having hosting CP software installed is an intelligent idea. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel tool that we offer does not offer full root-level access and is mainly appropriate for somebody who has multiple web pages that swallow a lot of system resources, but prefers to manage the web pages, databases and email aliases via an easy-to-use web hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, give you full server root privileges and have three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting plans instead of using the server just for yourself, you should choose one of these two.
Server monitoring and backup procedures
Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your web hosting server, like an unresponsive Apache or an outage, it is desirable to have some kind of monitoring system activated. Here at NTYT PERU S.A.C the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated server too. Backups are also an extra option - the hosting supplier offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would allow you to save the very same data on two disk drives as a precaution in case of a server disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given root privileges erases something accidentally.
